A slightly cooler day in the Chippewa Valley should give way to a sharp increase in temperatures as the week progresses. With a profusion of high pressure systems moving across the country there are some slightly cooler temperatures today, predicted to hover right around 50°F. It is expected to be a partly sunny day, dipping into the low 30's tonight, before rising into the upper 60's tomorrow. Rain is predicted later tomorrow night and conditions are expected to be moderately windy for most of the day.

This pressure map shows the current trends over the country. There are a number of high pressure domes spanning the western portion of the country. There is a cold front pushing through the eastern seaboard, lined with rain.

This map shows an overlain onto a wind speed map. The cold pockets in the west match up with the current locations of the high pressure systems. The front in the east is very easily visible, just off of the coast.

This map shows the current jet stream pattern over the country. A large dip, extending down to East Texas is currently cooling things off inside the trough.

This map shows the current surface data for the Midwest. Currently, in our area, the dominant wind direction is out of the northwest. The Eau Claire station is reporting 1/8 cloud cover over the area.

This sounding from Minneapolis, Minnesota shows the current atmospheric conditions over the area. There is currently no significant activity to note in the area.
