Current Conditions:

Wind: Northwest @ 9 mph

Things have been wet and overcast in the Chippewa Valley today. With overcast skies, in the form of stratus clouds, things have been dreary for the duration of the day. These clouds are helping to keep temperatures a little warmer than expected because they are insulating the area. A low pressure system is moving through the area, allowing for the increased cloud cover. Over the next few days, we can expect continuing cloud cover and a slight drop in temperature before a gradual rise again.

A low pressure system to our north and south are currently dropping pressure in the area. A stationary front also surrounds the area.

The jet stream is taking on a bit of a vertical path, which will bring colder temperatures, briefly, to the region.

This surface map shows overcast skies and winds from the northwest in Eau Claire.

The LI values show that there could be mild atmospheric activity today in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The KI values show relatively stable conditions.
